Last week I had the urge to actually colour my own work using a combination of Flash 8(to trace over my pencils) and a freeware program GIMP(for shading). The whole process takes me at least 5 or 6 six hours depending on how much detail I decide to put into my work. Also I have to put into account my right wrist which isn't reliable or able to keep it's strength for doing computer work. A few years ago I sprained my right wrist while skateboarding and it hasn't fully healed just yet; it's prone to get sore and stiff after awhile depending what I working on. However I didn't let this handicap get in the way of doing art, I just felt like sprucing up some recent drawings that I did.
First off is Batman
I went for the movie look because it looks more streamed lined then it's comic book counter part.
Most artist would sexualize Samus in her zero-suit, which was made famous in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However I would like to think I'm more mature with my art and decided to make her more elegant or heroic than slutty.
This one is actually an old piece from early 2007, it just decided to change the background and give it some new lighting effects. I guess this piece comes from people wanting to improve themselves in anyway that they can, but sometimes there is emptiness that they feel. The world keeps holding them back from what should really be worrying about.
Right now I trying to find some older drawings that I would like to see coloured, so if any one is reading this just look forward to it sometime in the 2009 fiscal year. HA!
There are certain drawings of mine that I done in the past that weren't to bad done in pencil. But recently I want to go back to old drawings and redo then as paintings. The pencil drawing on the buttom is the original done nearly two years ago on 8 x 11 paper. The painting done with acrylic paints on water gummed paper (16X12 inch) that I finished early today.

Right now I stand at 40.0% completion and I have just unlocked the third island. I have done jobs for federal agents, drug dealers, crooked cops and mobsters; however most of them are the one dimensional cardboard cut outs of yesterdays GTA games. Most of the people you meet are complex as the main character himself, the Slavic immigrant Niko Bellic. After witnessing several moments in the game, I feel that Niko is the most interesting and complex character in gaming history. There are times which he is funny and bit of a smart ass towards people even in the face of danger. However he's damaged in more ways than one; at one point you're dating a woman who wants to know more about Niko. The more you date her, the more Niko reveals himself to her. At one point she knows that he served in the Bosnian War and asks what it did too him.
"It ruined me", is his response and you can't help but feel sorry for the guy. At points like this you realize that GTA games and maybe videogames in general are starting to grow and become more engrossing then most movies I have seen over the past year.
Game play wise, a lot of things have been overhauled including the controls. Since I got the PS3 version I thought I was going to settle in the controls instantly. Well the one the foot control's were easy and the aiming was kind of weird at first (to free aim, you have to hold the auto aim button half way and hold it there). Car don't control like a block of wood on ice anymore, they respond to actually physics and most of them handle differently. Motor bikes however aren't the reliable ride they once where, as they too are under control by the new physics engine. The Euphoria engine is joy to behold, just watching how you interact with everything and watching the reaction is just so fun. From people holding onto your car door after carjacking them, to shooting people in the leg and watching them stumble; I can't wait to see Euphoria in action in The Force Unleashed. Hell it even affects vehicles, in one instance you're riding a motor bike and you start doing burnouts; do it too much and the tire will pop. The city it's self while smaller then the state of San Andreas; feels more alive and packed then previous games. Useable internet cafes, more traffic, more inside environments, yet there are no animals like dogs and cats. The cell phone you get is a god send because you can restart missions instantly after failing them, call up Little Jacob and he'll meet you close by so you can buy weapons out his car truck.
The only problem is that I still haven't tried the multiplayer aspect yet and I haven't beaten the game yet. Considering that I have heard that there is multiple endings depending on the choices you make. Grasping the whole entire game is there for me yet, but it is one of my favourite games of the year so far.

Well as you know I bought myself GTA: San Andreas for the Xbox/360, and after updating my 360 a month ago it booted up instantly. However there was a time when I was really sick of playing the game, it comes nearly year after beating the xbox version with a 100 percent completion. After realizing that there isn't much of reward after beating the game (unlimited ammo and crappy handling jet on top of Sweet's house) I decided to permanently shelve the game, so much time was wasted. However before the release of GTA4 on there current generation of consoles, I felt like heading back to the state of San Andreas just to get myself ready for the new and improved Liberty City. Thoses of you who played San Andreas for the first xbox have come to realize that the controls were overly convoluted on the original S controller. Now playing the game on the 360 controller, everything is on just unconfortable because trying to hold down the lock-on button, pulling the trigger/fire button, switching between targets and strifing etc... You come to realize that rockstar didn't really put to much though into the xbox controls when porting the game. Hopefully the controls for the GTA4 aren't as difficult then they were before.
Looking back at Jeff Gerstmann's review on this game, I feel that he let some of his personal expectations get in the way of his professionalism. He acted as if the game killed his entire family and proceeded to take a dump inside their skulls or something. Yes the game has come glitches and yes the game doesn't really look as good compared to some of the current-gen games out there. But in the sea of military/space/military space shooter out there, Kane and Lynch decide to do something diffirent. You're not perfect soldier who looks can make the ladies swooning over you and does heroic things; they're ugly people who do ugly things in some what of realistic world. I couldn't help but feel fascinated by Kane who you can't really tell what exactly what he is after; was it redemption for past sins or petty theft and more backstabbing against former partners. Lynch is just a f**k-up who can't be trusted with a simple task but you'll like to know more about him because at times he acts like a moral compass towards Kane and vise versa. Like another game release at the same time as Kane & Lynch (Assassin's Creed) it's one of those games whether you going to love or hate; I happened to enjoy this game and hope that they do make a sequel with improvement the controls (which aren't as flawed as you would think).
Another game I'm about to sink my teeth into is The Matrix: Path of Neo which I missed the first time around it came out. It was only $9.99 at the video store that I rent at and I got it for the xbox/360 because I didn't see the PS2 version.
And that is it for now, I'm starting the drawing that most of the people requested.

Finally played Crackdown on the 360 over the weekend, and I must say that it was much enjoyable experience then Halo 3 had to offer. Its still funny to remember that Crackdown was once referred to as the "Halo 3 beta with a full game" package deal. It the super hero jumping and lifting heavy things; maybe kicking the bad guys car off of a cliff that really make this game fun. However I'm now at the last and third gang; which is the East Asian Shai-Gen lead by the enigmatic Wang (tee-hee). This game has a Mercenaries feel to it, were you're actions are being closely monitored and you're hunting leaders of major crime outfits. It looks like that game has to free downloads which include a cheat editor (which halts the progress of the game)and more character models to use. Too bad the game doesn't have motorcycles or aircrafts to use, just some to drive around with that can move around then the cars. My only problem is the jumping and the camera, when in enclosed areas both mention really make the game a little troublesome. Also the respawning enemys that appear out of nowhere, sometimes right in front of you.
Also I downloaded Sin & Punishment (mindless shooter fun) and Super Mario Bros. 3 (classic) to my virtual console. Here's hoping that I'll see Double Dragon 2 and Jet Force Gemini on the VC sometime this year.
Over the weekend I did some request drawing for follow 1uppers and asked them what video game characters they would like to see. Well here is what the wanted, enjoy
This was a request coming from Alice-in-Gaming and believe it or not, Alice in Wonderland is a videogame character.
In 2002, EA released a Alice, a sequel to Alice in Wonderland which was designed by American Mcgee. Shortly after her second adventure, Alice's parents are killed in a fire - of which she is the only survivor. Becoming catatonic she is institutionalized in Rutledge Asylum. Years later, the White Rabbit summons Alice to aid a radically altered Wonderland, now under the despotic rule of the Queen of Hearts. The Cheshire Cat in particular now looks very different from Sir John Tenniel's original illustration: he is shown here as skeletally thin and his grin looks more devious than mischievous. When he first appears in the game, Alice comments, "You've gone quite mangy, cat, but your grin's a comfort." The cat serves as Alice's constant companion throughout the game, frequently appearing to guide her or offer advice. Dark Stuff.
The Fifth request comes from Zombrows and he wanted some Peach.
I was think about drawing her in a realist way, but that felt wrong. Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.
Sixth request went to The Total Package and he wanted Capcom's Maximo.
I have never drawn her before, now I have.

I posted this on my 1up blog:
Finally managed to catch two episodes of Lost last night, and they were amazing. The first episode was about Desmond and his ability to send his conscious back into time, a side effect to season two's event where Jack did not punch the code into the machine. Allow the hatch to blow up and release high amounts of electromagnetic radiation. The last few months were incredibly powerful and moving in which Desmond finally was able to talk to someone he left behind years ago. The second episode was about Juliet, the fertility scientist who we know had relationship with the Other who was courting Ana Lucia in Season 2 before she killed him. Another factor introduced was that the rescuers from the freighter ship were assigned to stop the poison gas facility which Ben used before and the Juliet was suppose to kill them before the suceeded. Finally we know that Ben has obsession with Julient and has the reason why Goodwin(the man Juliet was seeing) was sent to find out about the survivors of Oceanic 815. Yeah I seen some of season 1 and most season 2, but the last half of season 3 but I had to go to wikipedia to remember most to the names; also to avoid spelling their names wrong.
Finally just two days until Brawl, but sadly I won't be playing online. Last month I checked with the Nintendo Wi-fi site and saw that there was an update for Vista users. However after installing it four times and not getting any results, I found out the Vista is killjoy. That is was unnecessary Operating System upgrade and everything about it has been a pain in the ass ever since I got my new computer back in June. My PS3 can't go online unless I unhook my computer's ether net cable and connect it to my PS3. Even then most of the online capabilities are taken away (no online play) and I can only web browse and use the PSN store. Sighs Stupid Vista.
I tried buying an overly expensive Wi-fi router back on Christmas but I couldn't get the damn thing to work. Ended up taking it back for refund which they nearly didn't give me.
I have been trying to paint more over the last few months, but the process does take a while and sometimes I rather lazy when doing art. But here is some pieces that I haven't shown anywhere's else and they are most perspective/still life/ scenery artwork. Right now I just use arcylic paints on gummed water color paper, and sometimes I will use canvas boards as well. I trying to build up a portfolio for art school, but this isn't my first time applying; I have been denied at least four times. All due to my high school grades which weren't overly amazing but decent enough for my to graduate. So sometime before the first April I believe that I have to create more "perspective/still life/scenery" artwork for my portfolio and try write up a 500 word letter of entent. Part of me wants to do this, and the other half doesn't care any more. But I do enjoy painting and I want to get better at it, so look forward to more painting later on. Maybe.
